Sr Hilaria

The building used for the school was the original church referred to in Kunigunda Wagner's letters. It was dismantled, moved and reconstructed on its new location beside the church built in 1889 .

Sister Hilaria was one of the first sisters to teach at the school. She wrote in a letter..."Father Rhode greeted us upon our arrival in Rockefeller (now Mundelein). We were escorted to a small house consisting of a kitchen, living room, bedroom and a one room school. Despite some hardships, we had many consolations and found the people and children of Fremont appreciative, responsive and affectionate."
