One often thinks of legacy as something out of the past, and indeed it is. Yet, as time passes - and with it the people and places that occupied a space in it - all is not forgotten. There are many ways in which the past is honored by us in the present. Thus it is with great pleasure that we offer this electronic photo album as one of the ways we have chosen to remember and preserve memories of our heritage at St. Mary Parish.

Through the pictures and text of this album we hope you will discover the faith, ambition, perseverance, dedication, respect, and love that the pioneers of this parish and their descendants demonstrated by their work, words, and lives.

One of King Solomon's proverbs (13:22) states: "A good man leaves an inheritance for his children's children". While 'inheritance' usually refers to a worldly collection of some sort, we know that children often inherit many other precious gifts from their parents at genetic, mental, and spiritual levels. Parishioners at St. Mary have been privileged to receive a legacy of faith. It is a gift we are called to pass on.

Solomon's wisdom points to the need to consider not just the next generation, but the one after: the future's future. Our ancestors sought to reap the rewards of their labors and their faith in God for themselves and their children. Are we any different? We are the legacy of tomorrow.

Let us pray as we create our legacy that we will transfer our faith to our families and the communities in which we live. Let our lives become a testimony to our appreciation and gratitude for our past, and our commitment to the future.
